2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver2010 Winter Olympics, the 21 Olympic Winter Games, will now be held in Vancouver in Canada, 12 to 28 Feb. 2010 (3 years ago). Some of the exercises will take place in the neighboring town of Whistler. Both the Winter Games and the Paralympic Games is organized by the organizing committee VANOC (Vancouver Organizing Committee).This is the third time Canada organize the Olympic Games, but the first time an Olympics held in the state of British Columbia. Canada has previously held the 1976 (37 years ago) Summer Olympics in Montreal and the 1988 (25 years ago) Winter Olympics in Calgary. Such tradition dictates, received the then mayor of Vancouver, Sam Sullivan, the Olympic flag during the closing ceremony for the 2006 (7 years ago) Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy. The flag was hoisted in front of Vancouver City Hall during a special ceremony on 28 Feb. 2006 (7 years ago), where it hung until the opening ceremony. The Games were officially opened by Governor General of Canada Michaëlle Jean. Branches Luge
