The Pussycat Dolls are an American pop group. They started as a dance troupe based in Los Angeles, and at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Pussycat Dolls was founded by choreographer Robin Antin in 1995 (22 years ago), and they released their first single in 2005 (12 years ago). It was called "Do not Cha" and reached the top of the charts in many countries.
1993-2003Some sources claim that Antin began to find girls to dance his group in 1993 (24 years ago). Their first appearance was in 1995 (22 years ago). During that period they performed with numerous guest vocalists, with standards from the 50 - and 60-century. Among the original members were Christina Applegate (11 pics), known from the TV series Bundy (Our worst year). They made appearances in lingerie and old-fashioned pin-upkostymer. Antin reportedly drew inspiration from the choreography of Bob Fosse (Sweet Charity, Cabaret, Chicago). They remained in a Los Angeles nightclub, The Viper Room, and lived there from 1995 (22 years ago) to 2001 (16 years ago). In 2002 (15 years ago) they moved to The Roxy. The group became internationally popular and was featured in magazines, TV shows on MTV and VH1, ad campaigns and films. Carmen Electra (75 pics) was the group's front man for many of these performances. The group was made into a pop group in 2003 (14 years ago) with the help of music producer Jimmy Iovine and Ron Fair.
2003 and beyondIn 2003 (14 years ago) Nicole Scherzinger (aka Nicole Kea), a former member of the American Popstars winners Eden's Crush, the group's lead vocalist. The members who are now in the group, is Jessica Sutta (joined in 2002 (15 years ago)), Nicole Scherzinger, Melody Thornton, Kimberly Wyatt (joined in 2003 (14 years ago)), and Ashley Roberts. Carmit Bachar left the group in Mar. 2008 (9 years ago).
They opened the MTV Asia Award in 2004 (13 years ago). In 2005 (12 years ago) her single "Do not Cha," which was a big hit. This achieved a 2 place on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 list. Later achieved "Stickwitu" 1st place on the charts in England.
The Pussycat Dolls released their debut album, "PCD", 13 sep. 2005 (12 years ago). It has sold over 5.6 million copies. The album features tracks produced by will.i.am of The Black Eyed Peas, Timbaland, Rick Harrison, Sean Garrett, and Ron Fair. In 2005 (12 years ago), the group was involved in a mobile game, Asphalt: Urban GT2, which was published by Gameloft. They were also included in MTV Europe Music Awards in Lisbon.
In dec. 2005 (12 years ago) he won the Billboard Music Award for the year's best Hot / Dance Club Play singles with Do not Cha. The song was also nominated for best-selling single, and the year's best-selling dance single.
In Jan. 2006 (11 years ago), was the album PCD is still a success. In February, they came with the news that they should go on tour with The Black Eyed Peas, while they released the single "Beep" by will.i.am, the lead singer from The Black Eyed Peas. Later this week MTV released information about the group's next single, "Buttons", with Snoop Dogg (5 pics), who was released in Apr. 2006 (11 years ago).
Latest news about PCD is that it should be made dolls of all members, these will come in the summer of 2006 (11 years ago).
