Plot

The movie stars Gerard Butler (5 walls) as bounty hunter Milo and Jennifer Aniston (39 walls) as his bail-jumping reporter ex-wife Nicole. Much to his glee, Milo learns that Nicole is his next target and begins his assignment with enthusiasm. However, Nicole is determined to escape from Milo's custody once he has found her. He is determined to find and put her back into jail and take the credit – which is not as easy as it may seem. The exes continually one-up each other – until they find themselves on the run for their lives. They thought their promise to love, honor and obey was tough – staying alive is going to be a whole lot tougher. Until they fake being together to hide from the killers.

Reception

The movie has received overwhelmingly negative reviews from critics. The movie review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes reports that 8% of critics have given the movie a positive review, based on 95 reviews. The consensus given is "Gerard Butler (5 walls) and Jennifer Aniston (39 walls) remain as attractive as ever, but The Bounty Hunter's formula script doesn't know what to do with them – or the audience's attention." It also holds a "generally unfavorable" score of 22 out of 100 at Metacritic.

Roger Ebert gave the movie a star and a half out of four, commenting that "neither [Aniston nor Butler] is allowed to speak more than efficient sentences to advance the plot" and that it is rife with "exhausted action clichés." Kerry Lengel of The Arizona Republic, however, gave the movie three and a half stars out of five: "As formula movies go, The Bounty Hunter is more enjoyable than most, even if it packs in as many clichés as any." She also praises Aniston's and Butler's performances, but is critical of the "improbable" plot.
